Ls528 is Laura Shepherd artist and designer based in London, exploring the potential for machine consciousness and simulated psychedelic experience. Using a mix of digital art tools, the practice conceptually and perceptually transcends classical 4D spacetime to generate emergent experiences in hyper-dimensional realities.
This distinctive practice of Virtual Psychedelics fuses high-definition vector art with fluid, organic form to synthesise a radically modern psychedelic visual language and experience.
After a decade in high fashion accessories, designing for Vogue and cultural icons like Anna Piaggi, Lady Gaga and Rihanna —Shepherd pivoted to focus solely on digital creation in 2012, translating her mastery of avant garde texture and form into digital art. This transition reflected both an environmental ethos and a need for artistic expression unbound by material constraints.
Drawing inspiration from Art Nouveau's organic forms and 1960s psychedelia, Shepherd’s work is a critique on contemporary culture's commodification of wellness, and provocation to explore alternative healing modalities through technology, while remaining grounded in the fundamental human capacity for transcendence.
Exhibited internationally, Ls528 completed a Gazell.io residency in 2022, where her groundbreaking project “Fast Track to Happiness” produced dynamic figurative works from a generative pattern-based process.
